leathers
Each pair of shoes is individally made especially for you. This means you have a greater choice in what your shoes look like.
All of our styles can be made for you in any of the colours shown on the product pages. We can also make your shoes multi coloured. You can email or ring for guidance on how many options are available for the style of shoes you choose. Some products also give an option to leave your multi choice in the comments box. This comments box is not on the product page itself, but is available to leave any notes in on the online order form at point of purchase.
Our leathers are either full grain, nubuck or waxy nubuck. All leathers shown are full grain unless stated as nubuck or waxy. The leathers available for each style are shown on their page. If you would like to receive some leather samples, let us know which colours / finishes you would like and we will be happy to pop some into the post for you.
Full grain leathers - have a 'surface'. They can be polished with coloured or neutral polish. (see Shoe Care page). Analine leathers have less of a highly finished surface, giving a more matt appearance. You can then choose whether to polish them up or not. Ripley leathers have a textured, rippled surface and tend to be very soft and supple.
Nubuck - is a full grain leather that has had it's surface buffed to make it soft and velvety. Nubuck leathers need occasional brushing with a Nubuck brush (see Shoe Care page) to remove dust. Stains may also be able to be removed by fine sanding with a Gum Velours block (also see Shoe Care page). Our leathers are dyed right through so you will not remove the colour.
Waxy leathers - some of our nubucks have had a wax applied after buffing. This gives a patinated effect of slightly changed areas of light and dark where the wax pools. These are very attractive distressed looking leathers and can be treated in various ways as they age.
They can be polished as normal leather but will lose their flat look and become shiney instead.
We recommend that a protector is applied to all leather types before being worn. (see Shoe Care page)
Our huge choice of colours are always changing with new and exciting leathers being added frequently.
